Seal Beach Residuum- Bills Contest 2

In the Beginning of March, Bill Bryan held an amateur contest at Seal Beach.
The contest was scheduled for somewhat closer to noon when the tide was very low.
The morning high-tide session was fun.... But the afternoon killed it.
Even though, many competitors where still up for it, and the contest was mostly judged by tech-tricks.

There weren’t many waves, but Teddy Parker and Taylor Candiz, both Square Skimboards team riders, pop-shovit’ed their way into the finals.

Teddy Parker warming up like a ‘pro’.....

I can’t imagine how hard it must have been for the judges....

Taylor Cadiz:

Square Skimboards, great tech trick boards, a great new experience.

But hey, even with the miserable conditions, there was a bungee to play with....

And the guys had fun...

if you don’t know Squares boards, they have a quite different shape from other boards on the market....

And everyone gets stoked when they see the SkimBrasil photobook.

Windy Wedge Dessert with Taylor

A sessions back, Taylor, Corey and myself skimmed some N. L.A. spots but after feeling somewhat let down by the session, Taylor and myself still craved for some more.
From what I had seen, the wedge could be working, but would be super windy:
“why not, it always works somewhere down south”

It might have been small, but some waves were just coming in really mellow; a Wedge training day. It wasn’t really barreling, but some of the waves had something similar to one: Taylor with an ollie to “barrel”

If anyone finds the picture taken, or who is in it, I will give them one dollar!

And just to finish off, one wave that could have been really nice!
Check out how he got pushed away from the lip!

What to look forward to?: Big Seal Beach with Teddy Parker and some BIG wedge with the dudes *pros*.

Seal Beach - Bills Contest

In the Beginning of March, Bill Bryan held an amateur contest at Seal Beach.
The contest was scheduled for somewhat closer to noon, but Taylor, Corey and myself believed otherwise and got there at sunrise, around 6:00 AM.

The lighting, though beautiful, was somewhat difficult but the waves got better and better.

This was a very short picture session do to my trembling knees from the cold and anxiety to go skim it myself.

But the waves were really beautiful. It was super glassy and slide slipping action got better and better as the tide started to sink.

I KNOW! NO BARRELS RIGHT?
well, the truth is, the really early morning session was kind of brutal, and the peak of the high tide didn’t make it easy, but there were barrels, only problem is, i was skimming at that point, before the beach got too crowded of contestants (like 5 skimmers). It really did get easy for barreling later, WAY OUTSIDE, but no photographic proof.
Even though, the early morning session did show Seals potential:
Taylor EXPRESSING his FEEELINGS for the cute BARREL!

At one point, i just might post the contest pics, but i dont know if you really want to see them.
